University project. The project was to pick one film director and promote their retrospective screening event in typographic graphic design, which means a photograph, illustration or anything are not acceptable.
I chose Sofia Coppola and the concept for this project is "Human Connection". I found out all her works basically are focused on human relation and human connection, her minimal visual style emphasise her focuses in the film.
The poster and event ticket design uses special typographic layout system. The all words in both the event title and 3 film titles are divided into syllables, such as So-Fi-A, and arranged in grid system. The process of finding letter connection represents her film concept.
大学でのプロジェクト。このプロジェクトでは一人の映画監督を選び、彼らの回顧展のプロモーションをタポグラフィーのみで行うというもの、つまり、写真やイラストその他のものは使用が制限されていました。
私は映画監督のソフィアコッポラを選び、コンセプトはHuman Connectionです。彼女の映画は基本的に人間関係や人間同士のつながりにフォーカスが当てられており、彼女のミニマルな表現方法がそれを引き立てているのが特長です。
このデザインではレイアウトにルールがあります。イベントと映画のタイトルの全ての単語は音節によって分けられ（So-Fi-Aのように）そして文字は配置されています。文字のつながりを探す過程が彼女の映画のコンセプトを表しています。
